PSP D-PAD MOD "DIY" KIT INSTRUCTIONS

Thanks for purchasing my psp d-pad diy kit. Here I will guide you through installing it in your system. If you have any questions or trouble while installing this kit be sure to contact me for assistance and I will help the best I can.

Required materials.

#0 Phillips Head Screwdriver

Canned Air (Optional but highly recommended)

STEP 1 - DISASSEMBLING YOUR SYSTEM

Turn your system over as shown in the picture. There are a total of 7 screws that need to be removed. 5 of them are visible and 2 of them are hidden under the warranty sticker which you will need to remove. Make sure you use a small enough screw driver or else you will damage the screws.

Once you have removed all of the screws gently lift the faceplate off your system.

STEP 3 - REMOVING THE DPAD & BUTTONS

Lift and remove the rubber contact pad for the d-pad and buttons.

Flip over the faceplate and the d-pad and buttons should simply fall out. Be sure not to loose any.

Now that our d-pad and buttons are removed. I recommend placing the faceplate back on your system so excess dust doesn't accumulate.

STEP 4 - INSTALLING THE KIT ON D-PAD & BUTTONS

Here is the kit you will receive. It consists of the main cross piece for the d-pad and 4 circle pieces for the buttons.

All you need to do is simply peel the protective backing off each piece and stick them to the corresponding d-pad and buttons. Very simple.

Note: There may be a slight oily residue on the underside of the dpad when first opened. Be sure to wipe the d-pad clean before applying the mod. Failing to do so may cause the mod to not stick as well as it should.

Here we have finished the d-pad and a button. Continue with the rest of the buttons the same way.

Note: If you have a later model psp system, it may or may not have a clear circular sticker already on the square button. Be sure to peel this off prior to installing the sticker in your kit. If left on, the square button may become too stiff to use. I assume this was sony's answer to try and level out the lopsided square button found on most systems.

STEP 5 - RE-ASSEMBLING YOUR SYSTEM

Once you are all done you can begin putting your system back together. Place the d-pad and buttons back in the faceplate making sure they are in the correct position. After that put the rubber contact pads back where they belong.

While it is optional, your system is probably filled with dust at this point from taking it apart and I highly recommend using some canned air. Blast the lcd and the faceplate with a few bursts of air to remove any unwanted dust and quickly place the faceplate back on.

Inspect the system to make sure there is no dust and if you are satisfied you can start replacing the screws.

Your all done! Now get on your knees and pray because your psp d-pad is actually useful.

Enjoy.
